On August 13th, 2015 APRC at ISET Policy Institute organized a workshop on crop insurance reform in Georgia. The goal of the workshop was to consult with stakeholders to define specific objectives of the proposed policy interventions and to select policy options for further analysis.
The following stakeholders attended the workshop: Agricultural Projects Management Agency (APMA), Georgian Insurance Association (GIA), insurance companies, Georgian Farmers’ Association (GFA), a USAID project Governing for Growth (G4G), and Agroinsurance International.
The workshop was opened by Pati Mamardashvili, the head of APRC (Agricultural Policy Research Center), who made introductory remarks and outlined the goal of the workshop.
Once the topics for discussion were introduced, the participants recieved a summary of the results of stakeholder consultations. The event concluded with a discussion of policy options for further analysis.
Participants of the workshop were also invited to reflect on the main points raised in the presentation. After an active discussion, a strategy for future analyses was agreed upon and will be soon implemented by the APRC.
