On Thursday December 6, the Deputy Head of the Agricultural Policy Research Center (APRC) Irakli [Rati] Kochlamazashvili, presented the ‘Georgia’s Beef Market Review’ at the kick-off workshop of the USDA funded Georgia Food for Progress (GFP) project on Livestock Sector Development in Georgia. The event was organized by the implementer consortium members, namely Land O’Lakes International Development, the Georgian Farmers Association, and Michigan State University. The representatives of USDA from Georgia and Turkey, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the head of the Agrarian Committee at the Parliament of Georgia, donors, international and local NGO representatives, farmers and farmer associations, sector experts and other stakeholders all participated in the workshop.

ISET’s Irakli ‘Rati’ Kochlamazashvili, the deputy head of the Agricultural Policy Research Center, has been awarded the prestigious MASHAV Scholarship to attend the “Agricultural and Natural Resource Economics – Changes in the Era of Globalization” program conducted by the International School of Agricultural Sciences of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Robert H. Smith, Faculty of Agriculture, Food & Environment.

MASHAV is the Hebrew acronym for Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation, a department established 50 years ago within the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. MASHAV is responsible for designing and implementing Israel’s international development programs, which are carried out in Israel and in developing partner countries. The main criteria for the selection in the program are to be a mid-career decision-maker and policy advice practitioner.
