Between August 29 and September 1, ISET’s Salome Gelashvili attended the XV EAAE Congress “Towards Sustainable Agri-Food Systems: Balancing between Markets and Society” which took place in Parma, Italy.
The Congress is organized once every three years and gathers academics, scholars, practitioners, stakeholders and policy makers dealing with agricultural issues. This year’s meeting was dedicated to the food industry, and the participants discussed the most critical issues characterizing both the agriculture and food industries. Paper and poster presentations, organized panels and plenary sessions focused on such topics as Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), food policy, value chains, price transmission and volatility, land regulations, choice experiments and many other topics emphasizing the most concerning issues for society.
Georgia’s flagging agricultural sector is receiving assistance from a number of international governments, organizations and institutions, and ISET is right at the heart of efforts to revitalize this essential part of the national economy.
On July 18-19, Irakli Kochlamazishvili, Nino Kakulia and Daviti Zhorzholiani of the APRC visited the CARE Consortium office under the ENPARD project in Samtredia, Imereti, and met with representatives from a number of ENPARD-funded agriculture cooperatives. They introduced the farmers to the GFA-ISET Analytics system and the AGRIndex that are both based on the Market Price Information System (MPIS).
