The workshop targeted leading scholars, representatives of Ministries of Finances, tax authorities and NGOs from associated countries. The workshop aimed at collecting state of the art insights from behavioural economics which could be used to stimulate an increase in tax compliance – taking into account country-specific background factors.

As for the workshop, the goals of it were to: (a) identify and discuss the core problems regarding tax compliance faced by E&IA countries, (b) present results from recent field trials on new ways to increase tax compliance in EU Member States, (c) develop, in collaboration with researchers from the field of behavioural economics, new approaches for tax collection adjusted to the contexts of E&IA countries and (d) prepare networks for future field trials to test these new ideas.
