Distinguished ISET graduate and recent recipient of a Doctorate of Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, Salome Baslandze has recently been awarded a tenure track professorship at the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF) in Rome, Italy. There she will be teaching classes and continuing her research on growth, technological change, firm dynamics, and the dynamics of innovation. Salome will also be serving as an academic adviser and research supervisor for the Institute’s Ph.D. students.
Salome was able to secure the position through the Economics Job Market. The hiring process was extremely competitive and required several stages of review and interviews. She first interviewed for the job while attending meeting of the American Economic Association (AEA) in Boston Massachusetts this year, and later got the opportunity to visit EIEF to meet staff and give a sample lecture.
The Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF) is a new research institute, funded by the Bank of Italy. The Institute builds on the tradition of its predecessor, the Ente Luigi Einaudi that has fostered economic research in Italy for the past fifty years. EIEF produces world-class research, with an emphasis on policy relevant topics. It also seeks to influence public thinking and to train the next generation of scholars by running high-quality seminar series, graduate level courses and conferences.
ISET would like to congratulate Salome for her impressive accomplishments and wishes her luck in her new position.
