The ISET Economist Blog was recognized as one of three most informative online media in Georgia at the award ceremony of the EU Prize for Journalism 2015. This prestigious prize is the first of its kind in Georgia to acknowledge excellence in written press, TV, radio and social media reflecting high journalistic standards and contributing to a better understanding of European values.
Hosted on January 20th, 2016 at the National Library of Georgia, the award ceremony attracted more than 200 journalists, media, non-profit and international organizations. The Ambassador of the European Union, Janos Herman, delivered a welcome speech and emphasized the role of free media and civic journalism in upholding the values of democratic societies. Top three nominees and category winners were decided by a Jury comprising three renowned European journalists, three reputed Georgian journalists, and one representative from the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia.
ISET is absolutely delighted to be recognized for its contribution to the quality public policy debate in Georgia and the region. The ISET Economist is published twice weekly, in Georgian, English and Russian. All our articles are re-printed in Georgia Today, and The Financial. More than twenty authors – from six different countries – regularly contribute to the publication. Articles are produced on a broad range of economic policy themes, reflecting Georgia’s development priorities and the ISET Policy Institute’s fields of professional engagement such as: agriculture, private sector development, education and social policy, energy and the environment, and, last but not least, macroeconomic policy. In 2015, we have seen exponential growth in our readership and market penetration, reaching over 100,000 readers from around the world. Our writings have sparked discussions, influenced policy, and increased Georgia’s visibility in the global development debate.
We would like to congratulate all nominees and award winners of EU Prize in Journalism 2015 and thank EU for this encouraging recognition!
