ISET

For two days ISET’s cafeteria turned into a festive Azerbaijani kitchen. Preparation process was led by the first year students of ISET MA program, Orkhan Suleymanli and his assistant Nijat Guliyev.

Guests had a chance to taste delicious Dovgha, Qutab, and Plov. Traditional sweets were specially brought from Baku: Shor-Gogal, Shekerbura and Azerbaijani Pakhlava. Students generously prepared Khoncha - a big tray of sweets and dried fruit with green sprouting wheat, called Semeni, placed in the middle. Tea with special herbs was also served to underline one more time the Eastern origin of the holiday.

Accompanied by Azeri music, the event went on in a friendly, international atmosphere where guests experienced this fabulous celebration firsthand.

Every year, Novruz marks the start of spring and traditionally honors the rebirth of nature. It also coincides with the spring equinox, when the length of day equals that of the night.
