After a group of economics students and professors from UNIL visited Tbilisi earlier this year and undertook a course in Mechanism Design taught by ISET’s senior academic advisor, Professor Motty Perry (University of Warwick), a delegation consisting of ISET professor Florian Biermann, three second year students (Mzia Giorgadze, Gela Gelashvili, Laura Manukyan) and two ISET alumni (Saba Devdariani and Aram Grigorian) paid a return visit to Switzerland.
The main purpose of the visit was to participate in a research workshop about Economic theory with Bettina Klaus (HEC Lausanne). The ISET students presented their Master’s Theses, while Lausanne PhD students shared their recent and ongoing papers and exchanged ideas about related research topics. ISET students also had a chance to discuss their future
PhD plans and opportunities with HEC Faculty and guests from other universities. In addition, during the visit ISET students attended a number of open lectures by guest speakers Pol Antras and Amitabh Chandra from Harvard University, and a series of lectures about Behaviour, Economics and Evolution by Peter Tuchin from the University of Connecticut.
Cultural exchanges with UNIL students were also a part of the visit, and the ISET delegation accompanied UNIL students and faculty members on a visit to Geneva. ISET would like to thank the University of Lausanne for their support and hospitality, and hopes to deepen cooperation in the future.
