Title: ISET Director
Location: Tbilisi, Georgia
Duration of the contract: 3 years
ISET is an independent academic institution at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU).
• TSU is the oldest university in the Caucasus operating since 1918 and today is the largest provider of teaching programs in Georgia with over 20,000 students, including over 400 foreign students;
• ISET was founded in 2006 with support of the World Bank and Western donors and offers Western-style English-language MA (since 2006) and BA (since 2017) programs in Economics;
• Since 2011, ISET has been offering policy advice and consulting services through its Policy Institute (ISET PI);
• Operations of ISET are overseen by a US based non-profit organization.
ISET Director serves as a chief academic and administrative officer and provides organizational leadership to the institution with the following responsibilities:
• Develops and oversees implementation of a multi-year strategy for ISET to remain the center of excellence for economics education and research;
• Creates conducive and stimulating work environment by fostering synergies between ISET’s teaching, research policy, and outreach activities;
• Helps ensure financial sustainability by overseeing and reporting on the institution’s financial activities, developing funding proposals, and pursuing fundraising;
• Enhances ISET’s visibility through print and online publications, media appearances, outreach;
• Defines, aligns, and manages work programs of staff; oversees hires of local support staff and, in coordination with ISET advisory boards, of senior academic staff;
• Represents ISET in the state university system.
Required qualifications include, but are not limited to:
• Ph.D. in economics or a related field from a reputable academic institution;
• Demonstrated track record of excellence in leadership and management of teaching programs, fundraising, and policy advice;
• Established reputation and a wide network of contacts in the economics profession;
• Research publications and participations in international conferences.
