On July 30-31, 2019 the International School of Economics (ISET) at Tbilisi State University hosted the 2-day workshops on economic integration in Asia and Europe sponsored by the CAREC Institute and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), together with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. The participants included CAREC member country government representatives, and renowned academics and practitioners from Asia and Europe as resource persons. The workshop aimed to achieve a better understanding on legal approaches to integration; aspects of fiscal and monetaryintegration; integration in energy and environment sectors; best practices, lessons learned, and case studies from Europe and Asia which took different approaches to economic integration.
The Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program is a partnership of eleven countries: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, the Peoples Republic of China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. Since 2001, the Program has recorded approximately $32 billion investments in 185 projects in transport, energy, trade, and economiccorridor development.
Proceedings of the workshops will be made available on CAREC, ADBI and ISET sites in September, 2019.
