We are proud to announce that Maya Grigolia, an ISET alumna (class 2008) and senior researcher with the ISET Policy Institute, was offered a position of Research Director at Policy and Management Consulting Group (PMCG). In her new capacity, Maya will be working on project management, quality control, and communication issues.

Having graduated from ISET in 2008, Maya has served as a researcher and senior researcher with the ISET Policy Institute and (since 2015) ISET-PI’s Private Sector Development Center. Maya’s main responsibility at the Center was to implement the quarterly Business Confidence Index (BCI) survey. She also contributed to numerous studies on issues ranging from financial literacy and Georgian financial markets to SME development. Maya brings to the PMCG a great deal of experience in dealings with international organizations such the Asian Development Bank, Open Society Institute, US Agency for International Development, and the World Bank.

The Inter-Conference Symposium of the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE) entitled “Agricultural Transitions along the Silk Road” took place on April 4-7, 2016, in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It was organized by the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) and hosted by Kazakh National Agrarian University (KazNAU). With around 200 participants from over 25 countries, the conference included over 90 presentations, half of which were made by researchers based at institutions in the Silk Road countries.

The aim of the Symposium was to provide a platform for knowledge exchange and networking on three sub-themes: agricultural restructuring, natural resource management, and regional trade and integration.
