ISET

On December 5, ISET hosted Azim Sadikov, IMF Resident Representative in Georgia. Mr. Sadikov presented the 2014 October Regional Economic Outlook.

In the beginning of the presentation Mr. Sadikov spoke about the current economic situation in the Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA) region. He explained that the main reasons for economic slowdown in these countries are weaker domestic demand. Moreover, the global environment with almost 30% decline in oil prices and rising regional tensions have been significantly affecting Russia, the key trading and source of investment inflows for most of these countries.

On December 4 and 5, Head of the Agricultural Policy Research Center at the ISET Policy Institute Pati Mamardashvili and Senior Research Associate Salome Gelashvili participated in the National Conference for Agricultural Information and Consultancy Centers of the Ministry of Agriculture sponsored by USAID/SEAS Project.

The subject of the presentation was "Value Chain Analysis and Marketing - What AICC employees should know to help farmers". Presenters discussed the definition of Value Chain Analysis (VCA), its application and examples of instruments used in VCA. Presentation was followed by lively discussion and an interesting Q&A session.
