On February 19, 2014, ISET hosted a round table meeting on the World Bank’s draft of its Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) with Georgia for the FY 2014-2017. The purpose of the consultation meeting was to receive critical feedback from think tanks on the CPS to help determine the most effective country partnership strategy. The World Bank Group has already held several initial meetings with government, civil society and donor representatives.

The Country Partnership Strategy is the paper which sets the direction of the country’s development strategy in the upcoming three fiscal years. The CPS will guide the World Bank in its work in Georgia in collaboration with the government, the private sector, development partners, nongovernmental organizations, and other civil society organizations.

On February 18, 2014 ISET hosted the Israeli Ambassador to Georgia, H.E. Yuval Fuchs. The ambassador gave a great presentation about the miracle of Israel as a start-up nation.

At the beginning of his presentation the Ambassador showed a video reflecting some products from Israel’s hi-tech industry. He then began his speech by presenting figures from the Israeli economy and comparing them to Georgia’s economy. The figures indicated that today Israel’s high-tech industry is the world leader. For example, in only one year Israeli hi-tech businesses had 7.6 billion dollars’ worth of exit. However, as Ambassador Fuchs pointed out, high technology was not Israel’s niche at the beginning of 1960s.
