ISET

ISET Policy Institute started cooperation with TBC Bank on a series of training programs the aim of which is to introduce the Banks employees to the advanced statistics and data analysis methods.

The first training round started in June 2013 and covered mathematical modeling, statistics and spreadsheet analysis. The program focused on the analytical challenges TBC Bank staff encounter in their daily routines, enabling them to perform forecasting, optimization and simulation tasks. The program consisted of three modules, delivered over a 4-week period in TBC bank premises. Three 2-hour classes were delivered every week for a total of 24 hours of instruction.

ISET-PI was contracted by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) to build the capacity of policymaking agencies and the NGO community in Azerbaijan to develop macroeconomic indices for own needs.

In frames of this program, senior researchers from ISET-PI shared best practice of macroeconomic monitoring in Azerbaijan. A team from ISET's Policy Institute, consisting of Eric Livny, Giorgi Bakradze and Lasha Labadze, delivered a seminar to more than 25 participants representing key economic policy agencies in Azerbaijan as well as Georgian and Azerbaijani think-tanks. The seminar covered a number of approaches to monitoring and forecasting macroeconomic developments, as well as highlighting the tools that ISET-PI has developed to communicate the results of its work to the public and interested stakeholders. Training took place in Baku, October 2012.

Supported by the German development organization, GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit), ISET-PI conducted a training program to participants from Georgian government organizations, the national bank, and think tanks.

The training program introduced participants to modern statistical and econometric methods and the statistical software package, STATA. These methods will be useful to the participants in their research and related activities.
