On Tuesday, October 27th, ISET hosted Zurab Tchiaberashvili, former Mayor of Tbilisi, former Minister of Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, and current professor at Ilia State University. Mr. Tchiaberashvili delivered a presentation titled “Healthcare in Georgia: Challenges Ahead.”
Mr. Tchiaberashvili talked about Georgian healthcare systems Georgia transitioned through during different time periods. Using the data from different studies he showed that, while healthcare system in 2004-2005 benefited reach more than poor, during 2006-2007, with the introduction of new system, situation changed. In short, Georgia’s poor became better recipients of the assistance.
After two years of joy, stress, tears, and an inhuman amount of mathematical models, 34 students were awarded master’s degrees from ISET during a ceremony at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
The ceremony was attended by a literal “who’s who” list of Georgian politics and business including: Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mamuka Khazaradze, chairman of TBC Bank; Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance; Eva Gibson Smedberg, director of SIDA; Vladimer Papava, rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. In addition to our distinguished guests, various ISET students were distinguished for their outstanding work:
