On Publication, Refereeing, and Working Hard

On Friday, April 3rd, Professor Sergey Popov from the Queen's University Belfast visited ISET to present his paper titled "On Publication, Refereeing, and Working Hard” co-authored with Sascha Baghestanian, junior professor at the department for management and applied microeconomics at Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany.
Mr. Popov started his talk by providing some real-life examples – when authors got rejected from journals or vice versa. He explained that publication process in Economics has changed significantly in the last decades. New journals emerged, both general and field-specific.
ISET Public Lecture Series: Giorgi Bakradze Reflects on Lari Devaluation

On Thursday, April 2nd, Giorgi Bakradze, the Advisor in Economics Issues to the President of the National Bank of Georgia, gave a public lecture organized by ISET. The main topic of his presentation was Formation of Exchange Rate that addressed currently occurred exchange rate changes. More than 400 students and other interested individuals attended the meeting.
Mr. Bakradze started his presentation by introducing the main concepts of economics such as what is exchange rate, well-known so called the Big Mac Index, what is a difference between fixed and floating exchange rate etc.
